In June of 2008, Pastor Frank delivered a series of sermons titled "Life in the Loop". In this series, he highlighted the World Community Grid - an organization sponsored by IBM that is dedicated to becoming the world's largest public computing grid working on humanitarian research. Grid computing creates a computer system more powerful than a supercomputer by using the idle time of personal computers to perform calculations.

You can donate your unused computer time by creating a member login to the World Community Grid and then downloading and installing a free, small and secure software agent onto your computer. The software agent is similar to a screensaver that will wait until your computer is idle (i.e. powered on, but not being used) before getting to work. The software agent will download an assignment from the World Community Grid and then work on the assignment whenever your computer is idle. Once the assignment is complete, the software agent will upload the results to the World Community Grid and request a new assignment.

Join the St. Luke's Lutheran Church team on the World Community Grid, and the computer time that you donate will be added to our team's total donated time and displayed on our web site.
