What to Expect
Our Welcome to You
St. Luke's is a warm, multigenerational ELCA Lutheran congregation. Worship is grounded in Scripture, sacrament, and song. Here is what we believe and how we live it out on Sunday mornings.
We believe God invites you to the table.
The Sacrament of Holy Communion is available to all baptized Christians who recognize in the Sacrament the true body and blood of our Lord. Children who commune in their home congregations are welcome to the table. Communion is by intinction — come forward, hold your hands out to receive the wafer, then dip it in the wine or grape juice in the chalices.
Gluten-free wafers are available; just let the pastor know. Children or adults who do not commune are warmly welcome to come forward with their arms folded for a blessing.
We believe worship should be open for all.
Hearing devices and large-print bulletins are available from the ushers. You are welcome to stand as you are able during the service; if you need to stay seated, you are still fully able to worship. God understands all abilities. Handicap-accessible restrooms are located in the side hallway next to the nursery, and in the gym.
We believe children belong in worship.
We believe God put the wiggle and the giggle in our children. Their joyful noise is an act of worship and we welcome their praise of God. If a child becomes restless, a nursery is available in the side hallway whenever you need it.
For ages 3 through 6th grade, our Kid's Bible Adventure meets in the gym at 9:45 am during the GiG service.
We believe God calls us to be welcoming to all.
If you are unsure where something is or what to do, please ask — we want to make sure you feel at home. After worship, join us for coffee hour at 9:45 in the side hall fellowship area. It is one of our favorite parts of Sunday.
We believe God calls us to pray as a community.
Prayer requests may be made any time by calling or emailing the church office. You do not need to be a member; if it matters to you, it matters to us.
